December's Beatons Bod: Jack!

Each month we dedicate a section of our monthly Bulletin to a new member of staff, our Beatons Bod. We like to do this as it introduces them to you, our customers and we all get to find out a bit more about them. This months Beatons Bod is Jack, a member of the team in our Tisbury location. 

What's your role and what do you like best about your job?

Hi, I’m Jack and I’m a waiter here in Tisbury. I thoroughly enjoy my role and in particular enjoy conversing with our regular and new customers!

What's your favourite drink or item from our menu?

By far, my favourite drink is a flat white as it never fails to deliver, whatever the time of year.

And how about your favourite book from our shelves?

My favourite book on our shelves at the moment has to be ‘Death & Co’, which is eye-catching to say the least! Despite the ominous name it is a really classic cocktail guide with a good selection of drinks.

Which of the ways we like to go about things at Beatons means the most to you and why?  

For me, the personal relationships built between staff and customers is what I like most, as it’s not only nice for the customer to feel welcome but it also makes the job much more enjoyable for us too.

Finally, if you were an animal, what would you be?  

The animal I would be is a chimpanzee. Like me, they like to be sociable and around other people. They also can be very active, again, just like me!

Meet our Beatons Bod, Georgia!

Each month we dedicate a section of our monthly Bulletin to a new member of staff, our Beatons Bod. We like to do this as it introduces them to you, our customers and we all get to find out a bit more about them. This months Beatons Bod is Georgia, a member of the team in our Tisbury location. 

What's your role and what do you like best about your job?

I am new cook here in Beatons Tisbury. I thoroughly enjoy baking everyday as I am a keen baker at home, and I also enjoy serving quality food to our customers.

What's your favourite drink or edible from our menu? 

I really like the passionfruit soda and the cheese scones.

And how about your favourite book from our shelves? 

I think I’d have to say ‘Guittard Chocolate Cookbook’ by Amy Guittard as I love cooking, baking (and mostly eating) chocolate. This book also contains a lot of interesting recipes, both old and new that I can’t wait to try.

Which of the ways we like to go about things at Beatons means the most to you and why?  

I’d have to say the vision here at Beatons of always putting the customers first and ensuring that they have a pleasant stay with us and a fantastic experience. 

Finally, if you were an animal, what would you be?  

A bit unusual but I would be an ant. I’m hardworking, a team player and you would usually find me nibbling on some food!

Beatons Wellington Location Announced!

Yes! Beatons Tearooms and Bookshop is coming to Wellington and has confirmed that it will soon be opening its doors very soon in its new home at 17 Market Square, Wellington, Telford, Shropshire, TF1 1BU!

We are happy to announce exactly where you'll be able to find just the place for loose leaf tea, home-baked cakes and light meals, along with Beatons' special brand of gracious hospitality! That means table service, elegance and attentiveness - and a place in town where you can enjoy the whole English Afternoon Tea experience too.

Beatons also offers a carefully curated selection of books for sale, finding that even in the era of online shopping, books shine through as a product that people still want to browse at leisure; select and buy something they fall in love with. Beatons is delighted to adding this to what Wellington has to offer.  

Both Wellington’s franchise owner, Ghulam Khan and Beatons’ founder, Patrick Duffy have been taken by the spirit in Wellington and how many community based organisations there are; something that is embedded in the Beatons ethos.  

Boredom Busting Children's Events...Rachel Jane Is Back!

After the great success that was our Boredom Busting Children’s events during the summer holidays last year, we’ve decided to bring it back with the help of local Hampshire author, Rachel Jane!

As you may remember, last year Rachel visited Beatons Petersfield, Crowthorne and Tisbury with her debut book ‘Milo Goes to The Seaside’. Each visit was filled with a story-telling and fun activities, and even in Tisbury, a chance to see and explore Milo the VW Campervan himself! Since then, Rachel has gone on to release two more books ‘Lil’s Cupcake Delivery’ and ‘Tallulah Goes to The Festival’ and we’re pleased to say that she is back visiting Beatons with all three of her books for more fun-filled events.

With captivating rhyme and story, Rachel’s books are perfect for ages 5 and under, so why not join us and truly bust boredom!

Activites and Masterclasses at Beatons

You, our customers have asked and we have listened!

We are very happy to announce that we are now offering various activities and masterclasses for you to enjoy at your local Beatons throughout the year. From Tea and Cake pairings to Bottomless Brunch’s, we have a select group of activities which we think you’ll love; see below what we’re currently offering!

Beatons Bottomless Brunch at Beatons Petersfield.

Brunch, in our opinion one of the best parts of the weekend! Enjoy our menu with something you’ve had before or take the opportunity to try something new with our Bottomless Brunch. Taking place every third Sunday of the month and working on a pre-booked basis only, start off your Sunday right at Beatons. 

Tea Masterclasses 

With the help of Beatons’ Tea  Ambassador, Harry McGookin, explore our extensive loose-leaf tea menu, with the addition of our five new teas; Caramel Cream, Iron Goddess Oolong, Classic Royal Tea, Young Pu’erh and Ginger Root & Lemon. You’ll expand you’re knowledge on taste, tannings and how to brew the perfect pot of tea depending the tea’s type; as well as learning the history of tea and the process of  ‘from tea leaf to cup’. 

       English Sparkling Wine and Cake Tasting (where available)

Cake and wine, is there a more delicious combination? Explore our wide range of cakes (including gluten free and vegan      options), with the wonderful addition of English Sparkling Wine. Enjoy the variety of flavours within our cakes and see how they pair well with the flavours of the wines we serve in the tearooms.  

Tea and Cake Pairing Masterclass

From our take of the traditional Victoria Sponge to our very own tea-infused Earl Grey Tea cake or our delectable signature Carrot Cake, discover which of our cakes perfectly compliment our loose leaf teas in our latest masterclass. Perfect for those who wish to expand their knowledge of flavours or simply wish to explore our menu some more, this is the perfect masterclass to enjoy with friends and family. (Both gluten free and vegan cakes available).

Summer Menu

You may have noticed we’ve made some subtle changes to our menu in July to fully take advantage of the great summer produce we now have available. From our Crushed Avocado on Sourdough toast or our slightly more heavy Avocado Medley, to our classic Poached eggs on Toast, we have healthy, yet deliciously filling options for you to have at breakfast.

Enjoy our daily quiche served with a  generous side salad. You’ll get to experience the delicious flavours of Red Pepper and Feta, or Smoked Salmon and Watercress while enjoying some quality time with a friend.  For a lighter option enjoy our Chicken Caesar Salad - Chicken and Smoked Bacon served on a bed of crisp bed of Gem Lettuce; perfect for those warmer days when a larger meal feels like a bit to much.

Finally finish off your meal with one of our delectable fruit or chocolate sundaes. A juicy combination of summer fruits, strawberry and vanilla ice cream topped with almonds, syrup and whipped cream or Chocolate Decadence with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, home-made brownie, chocolate sauce, whipped cream topped off with Maltesers; items every member of the family will enjoy.

Book Events

After the success of ‘Boredom Busting at Beatons’ during the summer last year, this year it returns with a passion. Throughout the summer we will be hosting many book events in the tearooms for all ages, but especially children to well and truly bust the boredom during the summer holidays.

We’ve recently had some great book events take place; including Richard Issac’s signings at Blandford, Tisbury and New Milton, Fanny Charles and Gay Pirrie—Weir’s talk and signing in Tisbury and Chris Oswald’s very recent signing in Blandford. We very much look forward to hosting more authors this summer! Meet May's Beatons Bod - Yvonne

Yvonne Lynch, our FBO a Beatons Moreton-In-Marsh

Each month we dedicate a section of our monthly Bulletin to a new member of staff, our Beatons Bod. We like to do this as it introduces them to you, our customers and we all get to find out a bit more about them. This months Beatons Bod is very special as it's one of our new FBO (Franchise Business Owner), Yvonne, who's set to open her Beatons Tearooms located in Moreton-In-Marsh in the coming weeks!

What's your role and what do you like best about your job?

My role as business franchise owner is to ensure I lead, encourage and motivate my team to deliver a warm, friendly and attentive service to all our customers, so that they receive a true Beatons experience every time they visit. The favourite part of my role is seeing Beatons become a integral part of the community, where customers can relax, unwind and enjoy time with family, friends and loved ones.

What's your favourite drink or edible from our menu?
My favourite drink is our ‘House Tea’ which is ‘Green Lemon & Lime’, as for my favourite edible, there are so many to choose from! If I have to pick one it will be the Coffee & Banana Cake which has won an award and is also gluten free!

And how about your favourite book from our shelves?  

My current favourite book  is Eric Lanards ‘ Afternoon Tea’ ; visually a beautiful book, with an array of delicious recipes.  A perfect purchase if you wish to try to recreate the Beatons Afternoon Tea Experience at home , (clearly we would prefer you came to our Tearooms to allow us to do all the hard work while you simply relax and enjoy our gracious hospitality!) 

Which of the ways we like to go about things at Beatons means the most to you and why?  

It’s difficult to choose one particular aspect of Beatons ethos that means the most to me, as it’s a combination of everything Beatons as a brand strives to deliver daily that makes them special. Being an integral part of the community, a ‘go to hub’ where the local community want to gather to enjoy delicious food, chat with friends, celebrate special occasions and enjoy time to themselves is really important to me.

Finally, if you were an animal, what would you be?  

I should say a ‘Cat’ as I have four, 3 Exotic Shorthairs and 1 Persian. However, I share many of the same characteristics as the Dolphin. Dolphins are known as being loyal, trusting, and compassionate. They are friendly, like living in communities and are generous in their behaviour , could be my animal soul mate! 

Beatons Moreton-In-Marsh...Charity Announced!

'Cotswold Friends' has been announced at Beatons Moreton-In-Marsh's first charity of the year. Well and truly rooted locally, founded by and serving the local community, it aims to support its older local residents − especially those feeling isolated and vulnerable.

When Beatons' latest Tearooms Owner, Yvonne, discovered Cotswold Friends she immediately spotted a match with the part of Beatons’ Constitution which reads:

‘We value individuals whether customer, franchisee, supplier or any other stakeholder because unless people are heard and nourished, they feel disconnected and alone’.

Cotswold Friends aim is to provide community transport, a befriending service, carer respite & community activities to older and vulnerable people in the north Cotswolds. They work to help combat loneliness and isolation in the rural communities. We know just how important that is!

The organisation began as the Voluntary Help Centre in 1978 and was originally set up with the aim of helping and supporting local volunteers and matching them to volunteering roles across the area. The charity soon began to grow and today provides four key services to the North Cotswolds Community: Community Transport, Befriending, Carer Respite and Community Activities. With over 350 volunteer roles, our services benefit up to 2,000 older and vulnerable people in our local community.

How we help:  Each Beatons has their own Charity of the Year and has events to support it.  Our main contribution is giving 50p from every sale of The Charlton (soda) and our Community Chai Latte throughout the year.

Meet March's Beatons Bod...Chloe!

Each month we dedicate a section of our monthly Bulletin to a new member of staff, our Beatons Bod. We like to do this as it introduces them to you, our customers and we all get to find out a bit more about them. This months Beatons Bod, is Chloe, a member of the team in our Tisbury location. 

What's your role and what do you like best about your job?

I am the supervisor at Beatons Tisbury. My role is to help the manager with the running of the tearoom, as well as working front of house and keeping customers happy so they spread the word about Beatons. What I like most about my job is that I’m able to try different items of food from our menu.

 What's your favourite drink or edible from our menu?  

I’d have to say the Mushroom Risotto—it’s top notch; followed by a big portion of our gluten free chocolate Brownie!

 And how about your favourite book from our shelves?  

‘John Whaite Bakes at Home’ by John Whaite, i’s full of delicious looking recipes! Can you see a theme here? I like my food!

 Which of the ways we like to go about things at Beatons means the most to you and why?  

I really like how attentiveness is really focused upon. At Beatons we value our customers and want to provide them with the best service we can so they enjoy their experience and come and visit us again!

Finally, if you were an animal, what would you be?  

I would be a free-range, happy chicken! They have eggcellent little personalities!
